Brazilian Jazz

XIBABA (she-BA-ba) is a band that plays Brazilian music for listening and dancing, including bossa nova, samba, baião, forro, frevo, chorinho, partido alto, and the music of Egberto Gismonte, Hermeto Pascoal, Airto Moeira and others.

Members

Group size ranges from 2 – 7 musicians, depending on the performance

  • Mira Kehoe – voice, keyboards, drum set, percussion
  • Tom Kehoe – piano, keys, sax, flute (including bass, contra-bass & alto flutes), vibes, bass clarinet, melodica, steel drums, AX-synth
  • Kevin Daley – guitar
  • Tim O’Keefe – percussion, congas, oud, harmonica
  • John Croarkin – flutes (including bass & alto flutes), sax (alto, tenor and Baritone)
  • Babatunde Lea – drums, congas, African percussion
  • Bill Paul – drums, percussion
  • Dan Weston – bass, percussion
  • Hans Friese – sax, flutes, percussion

Booking

Xibaba has a very large repertoire of music, vocal and instrumental, ranging from jazz to Brazilian and world music. We are currently booking the band as a duo, trio or a larger group at summer festivals, private parties, concert venues, restaurants and clubs. Set lists and repertoire are tailored to appeal to every audience.
